03.09 - Future Exploration Source Set Up

At the beginning of class today, I handed out the set 14 roots and prefixes sheets for this week (see below). These were for people who had speedy machines or are quick with technology so that they would have something to work on if we had a few minute of pause while we resolved a technology issue or waited for others to catch up. We will have this quiz on Friday.

The main focus for today's class was to finish setting up the source spreadsheet for our future exploration projects.

If you were not here to finish this process or no longer have access to your sheet, you can see an example of this spreadsheet here: Future Exploration Sources - Model Sheet.

If you need to make a copy of this sheet, you can make one in Google Drive by following these steps:

1 - Make sure you are logged in to Google Drive.

2 - Select: File -> Make a Copy...

3 - Rename the document by deleting “Copy of” and replacing it with your last and first
   name, a dash, and then the original title of the article.
ex.
A document named “English Assignment” will copy as: “Copy of English Assignment”
change this to: “Last Name, First Name - English Assignment”
e.g.: “Smith, Jane - English Assignment”

4 - Share the newly named document with my email: caleb.collins.lhs@gmail.com

After everyone had this document set up and ready to record sources, I handed out an information sheet on how to cite websites using the MLA format. For practice, we used a page on the class site to correctly cite on our new spreadsheet (you can see this in the document above). We talked through this process and looked at where to find information (typically at the top and bottom of the page).

We will continue our work with this in class tomorrow.
