03.02 - Revision and Grade Report Sheets

The focus of today's class was on revision and reflection. At the beginning of class, I returned the set 12 roots and prefixes quizzes to people and we discussed questions that had confused people and addressed any questions that people had about the quiz.

We then did a reflection activity around academic habits and the preparedness slips that students have been completing when they don't have an assignment. We reviewed the reflection (see handouts below) and discussed how to respond to the various questions on the front of the sheet. Everyone then had time to respond to these questions. Following this, I handed out the "not prepared for class" slips that I have collected from people so far and they used in reflection to create a goal for their academic work in the next quarter.

Next, I returned work to students (the concentric circles discussion reflection and the sentence types analysis assignment) and we discussed how people had done with this work and what revisions were most often necessary. Everyone then had time to work on revising these assignments while I met with students to check in on the goal that they had created for themselves.

We will discuss the future exploration pre-write and volcanologist processing questions tomorrow in class.
